Welcome to the summer edition of the SDRC newsletter :-)
This has been great experiance for me to have a go at writing your news & views. Please continue to send me your feedback & reports so that I can continue to update the website.
I look forward to hearing all your trials & tribulations. Sally Humphries
Following on from the AGM in February, the committee have had regular meetings to try to implement some of your suggestions from that night. Please keep an eye open on the home page & fixtures page for forthcoming events. Without your support & attendance we could not function as a club.
We ran the second Area 9 dressage qualifier on the 16th June. Once again things ran smoothly, thanks to Tammy & her team of helpers.
We had fabulous results from both juniors & seniors. The juniors qualifying for the championships in Lincoln with Bella, Grace, Demi & Livvy.
The seniors just missed out on qualification coming 2nd however there were some excellent individual results: Amber on El Fuser came 1st and both Kerrie Fleming & Kerry Alexander had 3rd places in their respective tests.
Theory & Demos
Please could we encourage all our members to attend the theory sessions, demo's & social gatherings. Its a great time to meet new members, catch up on horsey gossip as well as learning a few tips along the way. It would be a shame to just limit the club to ridden clinics due to poor attendance. If there is an aspect or idea that you would like to be put into practice then any committee member would be happy to listen & hopefully give a hand to organise. However we do need your attendance to make it viable for speakers to visit us.
Camp is planned for Sept 28th at Stockland Lovell joining forces with the VWH riding club. This looks set to be a great few days away with like minded people & their trusted steeds. If you haven't already notified Kerry Alexander of your interest then please make haste as places may be limited.

Round up of Results so far!
So far we have had great success in all the qualifiers for the various BRC championships.
In March Katie Vincent qualified for the Eventers Challenge and then competed in the championship at The Festival of the Horse coming 17/70 riding with an injury to her Kidney.
In April the Combined Training team consisting of Laura Wall, Amber Dunham, Kerry Alexander & Tam Thornton qualified & then produced a 3rd at the championships held at Aston-Le-Walls having to substitute Amber for Nic Davis at the last minute.
May brought Royal Windsor with Laura Wall on Katana having a prestigious 2nd in the dressage. Laura Windel having qualified earlier in the year on Malibu for the Top Score also did a great job but missed out on a placing.
June saw the Junior dressage team consisting of Demi Davis, Bella Lee, Grace Taylor & Livvy Hoyland winning at Rabson to qualify for the championships held in September at Lincoln.
Finally the Horse Trials representatives have had great success in getting two teams to go forward to the championships held at Swalcliffe in August. They are Team 80 (who won their qualifier at West Wilts) Kerry Alexander, Kerry Fleming, Fran Willers & Tina Starling, Team 90: Kerry Alexander, Kerry Fleming, Lucie Humphries & Lynne Hawkins.
As you can see SDRC have had riders in every discipline all qualifying for the various championships, this is a fantastic result and proves hard work & dedication as well as excellent trainers really do pay off.
Good Luck to those awaiting their championships later in the year!
SDRC Early Success for 2013
All of these riders have represented SDRC in all disciplines including Dressage, show jumping, combined training and one day events. There success is a credit to diligent training and horse care. SDRC pride itself on the excellent trainers available and the after care theory courses available throughout the year. If you feel that you would want to represent your club please contact the appropriate person via the "who does what" page and put yourself forward. New blood is always welcome. If the competing is not for you then there are plenty of training days & social events which are friendly and welcoming.
Royal Windsor 14-18th May
Laura Wall on Favara Dynasty
SDRC were well represented at Royal Windsor this year. Laura Wall on her horse Favara Dynasty came an amazing 2nd in the dressage against stiff competition. She & her family had put in endless hours of training since the qualifier in February so truly deserved this recognition.
Laura Windell also represented the club at Royal Windsor in the Top Score competition.
Although not coming in the placings she & her horse Malibu had a cracking round but unfortunately knocked the joker fence of planks down. We hope that they will both continue to represent the club in future competitions. Laura is currently awaiting a knee operation and we wish her a speedy recovery for that.
We are very proud to have continued press coverage for our club members. Laura Wall & Favara Dynasty have been mentioned twice in Ridgeway Riders Magazine. Tammy Thornton & Lady had a lovely write up in Horse & Hound. If any other members get their names in the press do let Sally know so it can be added to the website.
We hope you will be inspired to give the qualifiers a go & hopefully gain a place at one of the championships.
